I have recently set up my own online dating website invitemeforcoffee.co.uk which to be fair is doing ok with over 2000 hits since it went live on the 23rd December 2009, but I want to increase traffic as much as possible for free and im looking for the best tips on doing this.

The top ways to drive traffic could be PPC marketing, SEO, forum marketing and article marketing. Its going to cost you time or money to drive traffic online. Sometimes both, depending on how you have your traffic strategy get up. One more good method to drive quality traffic is the strategy of word of mouth… you would try widgets from SocialTwist. Not only is it quite effective but also cheap.

Hi, I have had a similar problem. I believe my site is good, the content is great, and it will really help people. I just need them to know it is there!
One of the ways which is starting to work is by advertising on social networking sites, this has helped quite a bit, especially with facebook. However this is quite time consuming. If anyone is interested in seeing what my site has or agrees with me that it is good just need traffic then it can be found here;

But yeah if you want traffic for free, i would definetly recommend social networking.

There are a ton of tactics you can use to drive traffic to your dating site, but if you aren’t driving targeted traffic, your efforts will be pointless.
You said you don’t want to pay for traffic, but just because you don’t pay for traffic doesn’t mean you won’t be paying with your time. If it’s free traffic, it’s probably going to take some work.
The first thing I would do if I were you is start article marketing. Article marketing allows you to drive highly targeted traffic if done correctly. However, it sucks writing 10+ articles per day (which is the minimum you will need to have any positive effect). On the other hand, you could outsource the writing. You can usually find people who would be willing to write articles at $3-$5 per article, but since you said you can’t spend cash, I’m guessing this is out of the question.
Other than articles, you could use web 2.0 properties, but that still requires some writing.
