How to get more website traffic?

7

I’m trying to get more traffic to my website does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do to attract more visitors.

To get traffic to your website, you need to optimize your website to obtain higher ranking in search engines, here are some good ideas to help you do so:

1st try to get more back links to your website and the easiest way to do thats is by submitting your website to free web directories such as:

http://www.lii.org

http://www.dmoz.org

http://www.surformation.com

Backlinks provide higher ranking in search engine, but most importantly, links drive direct traffic to your website when visitors clicks on your links.

2nd Try promoting your website on social networking and internet communities such as

http://www.twitter.com,

http://www.digg.com,

http://www.stumbleupon.com

This is where web surfers are spending a big deal of their time, so have your share of visitors.

3rd and most importantly, provide quality content, this is an indirect way to get back links by genuinely driving people to link to your website.

4th make sure that your meta tags ( web page titles and description) match the content of your pages, this is a huge part of search engine optimization and drives traffic from search engine to your website

Be careful about spamming your website on Y! (or anywhere else) some take great offense to this and will flag your comment.

Get a blog for your site and blog about what you do, submit an article on what you do or sell to ezine article sites, which will allow you to add your URL to your signature. Make a video about what you do and put it on Y! Video and elsewhere.

Ask a friend with a site to do a link exchange. You link to him, he links to you. Become an expert on what you do, and soon you’ll be getting organic hits from search engines.

Ask your family and friends to keep your site as a home page. That’s kind of cheating, though :)

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
    Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
    very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical SEO metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
    at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, "Who’s my end user – is he on dialup or
DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
    is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.

    Placement of SEO Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the "Description" which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one’s goods and services.

And the very last category – "Keywords" are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
    directory.

    Good luck!

We have 12 major website businesses online and here are our top 3 sources of traffic…

    1. Content – articles (on our own domain and posted to article directories) , blog postings, press releases, guest blog posts on other blogs, forums, etc… Of course, this must be optimized content which means you have done keyword research and understand the most probably keywords your market will use when they are looking for what you are offering.

    2. Affiliate program: If you have your own products or have enough profit margin in your product to give strategic partners a cut of the sale, then you will be able to sign-up an affiliate army to help generate targeted, "warm" traffic to your site. This is not only a great source of quick traffic, traffic from these sources tends to convert very well because they are often loyal followers of your partner.

    3. Paid traffic: While we do not invest a great deal in pay-per-click advertising, we do strategically use PPC to find high return on investment keywords which we then funnel into our Search Engine Optimization campaigns. When used properly, paid advertising is an excellent source of quick traffic for profit and testing.
