Onsite and Offsite Optimization for Putting Your Website on Higher Rank
Search engine optimization is very wide concept and diversified field. It can be divided into two major categories namely offsite and onsite optimization. So whenever a website is build both of these categories are required to be addressed and worked upon. On-site optimization refers to optimizing your website and its pages for enhancing search engine ranking.
Whereas off-site optimization refers to SEO techniques used outside your website for its search engine positions. Providing backlinks is most widely used offsite technique. Any other website giving backlinks to your website increases the creditability and website traffic to your website. But when you choose another website for backlinks, select those having good online reputation.
For search engine ranking both the types of optimization is important to put your website on top position of search results. When compared which type can be controlled in better way, onsite optimization scores well as it is much simpler to optimize your own website but both of these techniques are important.
Onsite optimization
For example keywords used in Meta tags, website content and navigation links is one trick of carrying out onsite optimization. Meta tags refer to short description about your website that gives information to the user. Maybe the website visitor will not be able to identify this information but search engines do recognize it.
If you have too many images, pictures or flash animations on your website search engines will not be able to identify these elements and would not able to rank the site high. Rankings are based on the keywords/phrases used in the site that are basically search terms used by customers. Therefore websites that have loads of images or movie clippings stand mere chances of getting top ranking positions in major search engines.
Every web page should contain particular keywords or keyphrases and should be given importance. Ideally the percentage of primary keywords in a web page is 3-7%. Your website content should look natural so do not overstuff it with keywords. Go for strategies that are fruitful in long-term.
Offsite optimization
Offsite-optimization gets links to your website from other websites having content with some similarity. In this optimization link extension of the other websites does matter. Some backlinks get more preference that end with extensions like .edu, .gov and .com. These websites have good reputation, as a result it is rather difficult to get backlinks from such websites, but if you manage to get it would be surely profitable.

How to Get Free Traffic to Your Website Using Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
How to get free traffic to your website using SEO
There are many ways to get free traffic to your website but I am going to focus on search engine optimization.
SEO is the most common but also one of the most competitive and therefore difficult to master technique to get free traffic to a website. SEO is the art of building your site so it ranks high on the search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing.
Here are the keys to SEO:
1 Write great content
Writing great content and plenty of it is key to the search engines ranking your site well. Every site should have at least 15 pages each with over 800 words.
2 Keywords
Choose keywords that you want to rank high for these keywords should be relevant to your content. Scatter these keywords throughout the content and especially in the h1, h2 and h3 headings.
3 Use video
Search engines especially Google who own YouTube love video. You should use at least one video on each page of your site. If you can create your own video that is best because it will grow your image online but other people’s video from YouTube who give you the HTML on the video’s page will do if you can’t make your own video.
4 Optimize your images
I am sure you have images on your website then it is important to name the images using the keywords you want to rank high for.
5 Internal links
Internal links are links to different pages in a website. They tell the search engine what the different pages are about as well as helping visitors to navigate around your site. When you are creating internal links you need to use keywords in them, never create internal links that say click here or read on if you linking to a page titled SEO advanced then use that title or the keywords in that page like search engine optimization. To prove my point search for click here on Google, you will see Adobe come up number 1. That’s because so many people link to Adobe with click here.
6 Incoming links
Search engine optimization is now a popularity contest because Google have changed their algorithm (the way they search and rank web pages). They changed this because people were abusing their search engine by packing their websites with keywords or doing link swaps (linking to another person’s website and them linking back). Although these are perfectly legal they weren’t bringing up the best results for searchers.
So now the most important part of SEO is inbound links from other related and well ranked websites. So how do you get these links when it seems they are out of your control. One way is to write articles about topics in your site and publish them to relevant websites or article publishing sites. Make sure to link back to your website in these articles these links should also contain keywords. Another way is to join some social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter etc and link back to your site, you can also ask your friends on these sites to link to you. Of course the most effective way to gain links is to write great content people will want to recommend but make sure to get these people to link to using keywords. This is key in helping the search engines rank you higher. For example if you search click here in Google, Adobe will come up number one this is because so many people link to Adobe with click here. The best way to get people to link to you using keywords is to ask them in your content or to provide links for them although this will require some coding skills.
7 Create and submit a site map
You need an xml sitemap for search engines to crawl your site and therefore index it. You can create an xml sitemap for free with many different xml sitemap creators.
8 Name your pages right
Why would you want to create a page on your website and not name it right. What you often see on the 10th page of Google is a site that has it’s pages named as 12544745 but when you go to the 1st page you find sites that pages are named with the keywords you have searched for on Google.
9 Meta tags
Meta tags are found in the HTML of all well ranked pages. The tags are only visible to the search engines. Their purpose is to tell the search engines are the search engines what the page is about that is the description tag. The other tag is the keyword tag which tells the search engine what keywords you want to rank high for. In the description tag you need to write a short sentence about the page, your sentence should contain keywords and be a flowing sentence but it is best to avoid stop words like a or the. The keyword tag contains all the keywords for the page comma separated, the keywords can also be keyword phrases with two or three words in each.
Please note that SEO is not an instant fix and requires work and time before it pays off. But if you follow these 9 techniques and give it some time you will see a massive pay off.

Tested Methods For Driving Traffic To Your Web Site
The following article presents valuable information on website traffic. Of course you need website traffic. And this informative article will give you tried and tested methods to get you started.
To make your website look professional and more attractive to customers, hire a professional. Don’t think you can afford it? Think again. Many local web designers freelance and the prices they quote you for design may be lower than you think. If your needs are simple and you are a small business person, it won’t cost you that much to hire a pro.
To get repeat web traffic, update the pages on your website frequently. Some search engines and directories will drop sites that are stagnant. You can even put a date on the page to show when it was last updated. Add a link to your primary pages with a script to book mark or add this site to your favorites.
Hire a good search engine expert or get educated on how to put together your search engine keywords, META tags and other references so you can advertise your site content and identify your business as one that prospects want to see and perhaps purchase. Of course, search engine optimization can’t keep customers on your site or make them buy, but getting them to visit your website is a big part of the battle!
The more authentic information about website traffic you know, the more likely people are to consider you a website traffic expert. Read on for even more website traffic facts that you can share.
Research and analyze your competitor’s websites. Unlike proprietary business plans and reports, competitor websites are public and with a bit of analysis, you will learn what they are doing to attract customers and traffic. Whether you consider a business to be a direct competitor or not, if they are doing something well and their search engine rankings are high, try to figure out what they are doing and how you can learn from their presentation.
Don’t pay a company to submit your website to search engines using an automated procedure because this technique often fails. Search engines often ignore these submissions. Submit your site to these search engines and directories yourself, or pay someone to manually submit your site. You can also look into search engine advertising (using advertising programs like Google AdWord). It costs money but it ensures placement of your business name and website link in a visible position on the search engine page.
It is important to understand your customers, and one way is to collect demographic information about them while they are shopping on your website. If you go this route, be sure that it is optional for your customers to complete this information, and not mandatory for them to complete the order. Do not collect more personal information than you need to process the order. You must also provide Secure Socket Layering (SSL) on your payment page so that your customer’s private data is encrypted and cannot be stolen by a hacker.
Once you’re familiar with these ideas, you’ll be ready to move to the next level.

Building Effective Link Relationships
As you build your website to attract readers and potential buyers, you will want to consider the content that goes into each page. For an author selling a book, naturally there should be material designed to entice readers to purchase: an excerpt of the book, glowing reviews, and the necessary call to action in a means to make an online purchase.
Oftentimes, to enhance a site’s relevancy on a particular topic, outbound links are included for visitors to sample after they have browsed the site. “Outbound” here refers to links leading the visitor off the website. While it may helpful to provide outside information to visitors, it is a combination of the quantity and quality of inbound links that better determines your site’s ranking in relevant search. Note, in the case of website seeking attention from Google, Yahoo, and other major engines, that quality is the key word.
Is it better to have a website linked from a thousand mediocre, irrelevant websites, or from fifty strong, relevant sources? Search engine optimizaton methods have long been debated since SEO became a legitimate industry, but the fact remains, regardless of what is effective, that link popularity is one of the most important elements of site optimization. More so than proper META data implementation and URL submission, strong link popularity lets search engines know which websites are the most reputable and relevant to various searches.
That said, for an author or musician, or online retailer seeking to build quality inbound links, it is necessary to research and sift the wheat from the chaff. Building good link relationships can be simple or challenging, depending upon the nature of your website. As you look into this type of site promotion, take care to consider a few things:
1) Organic links always trump reciprocal links
It is said that you know a site is truly relevant to a particular subject when many websites link directly to it without being asked. These are known as “organic” links. Websites for major news sources and companies like CNN, Yahoo, and ESPN may enjoy high popularity through constant linking via news sites, weblogs, and sports sites. Amazon.com may benefit from association with many sites relevant to books and music, while social sites like MySpace and YouTube offer cultural relevancy to weblogs and entertainment sites.
Unfortunately, not every site can be an Amazon or MySpace. However, if your website offers a niche it is still possible to attract other site owners for a link relationship. An author I knew who wrote Christian fiction, for example, managed to establish linking relationships with various Christian organizations and ministries. By sending a few complimentary copies of her book, not only was she able to have the sites link to theirs, but she also procured favorable endorsements for the work.
Take advantage of the niche your book brings to the community. If you write about sports, seek out websites related to your topic. If you write romance, find those websites. Connect with webmasters and readers, and offer samples of your work if necessary.
2) Link farms and FFF sites may hurt more than help
Used to be (and to some extent you still see it) there were a number of services that offered to submit websites to thousands of search engines. To the novice webmaster, that may sound like a promising venture into search engine optimization, but at the end of the day the only search engines that make a difference are the ones used most by Internet users – Google, Yahoo, MSN, and other minor engines like AOL Search and Ask. The majority of these so called “engines” may turn out to be nothing more than pages using “parked” domain names (that is, a purchased URL not officially in use) to support coding full of search mechanisms drawn from other engines. Other sites may actually be link farms or FFA (free for all) sites, where anybody in the world can submit a site to attempt good link popularity.
A closer inspection of some sites reveals they can do more to harm a site’s relevance in Google than help. FFA sites in particular are a haven for pornography portals and sites of dubious interest, while link farms might require a reciprocal link in order to be included. If the link in question is not relevant to your site, it wouldn’t make sense to engage in such a relationship. Tempting as it may be, it is recommended to avoid such sites.
3) Webrings may not always be the answer.
Many authors I know tend to sign up for webrings – which are strings of HTML code designed to link together sites of a given theme. Authors of romance, mystery, science fiction and other topics may join a webring, place the code on their website, and allow visitors to jump from site to site in the “ring” by clicking on this code.
While the concept of the webring offers good intentions – the increased opportunity of visitors, for one – there are also disadvantages. Webrings are usually maintained by a single person, who must approve of each new member. A lax “ringmaster” may tend to neglect the ring, particularly if sites involved become defunct. Ring links leading to dead sites may also discourage visitors from using webrings – this often poses a problem for webrings that include hundreds of members.
If you are considering adding your site to a webring, take care to explore the ring in question first. Check for dead sites and the quality of the sites involved. Some webrings, too, require bulky logo images with their code and placement on a particular page. If you are concerned about your page’s design, you may wish to look to other methods of link popularity.
So how does one build effective link relationships for popularity? It is as simple as 1-2-3:
1) Build a fresh site of relevant content – information about your books/products, with content relevant to the topics 2) Research of quality websites with linking potential 3) Establishing a good relationship with webmasters of relevant content.
As an author, your site need not be limited to information about the books you write. Expand the topics to include supplemental articles of interest to would-be readers. For fiction authors, offer free stories furthering the adventures of your characters.
When approaching site owners for link consideration, be polite and detailed. Offer incentives wherever possible. If you write sports biographies, why not approach a collector or memoribilia retailer, and offer gift certificates to the shop in a monthly drawing for readers? Take every advantage you can think of to market your work, and if there is a possibility another site owner can benefit, make sure you emphasize that.
As you meet other people on the Internet, you may find more avenues open to website promotion. Make your approaches armed with courtesy and knowledge, and you just may find your traffic and sales grow.
