You’ve got to get traffic to get traffic. Google is the gatemaster (as of now, but Yahoo Search Marketing is gaining ground). Just off the top of my head, learn as much as you can about:

1. Search engine optimization and how it should drive your website content and titles. One of the first things I would do is change your website URL to something descriptive: eg., “petcarriers.com” is going to immediately rank higher than “road-hound.com” when someone searches for “pet carriers” (my bad, I learned this too late for my business!)
2. Google Adwords or Yahoo’s equivalent
3. Search engine registration
4. Textual content advertising
5. Directory listings/link exchanges and how they can increase your search engine rankings

There are fantastic free articles on all these topics on the internet. Or, books galore.

Once you’ve got a good understanding of these, you might check out majon.com to see if they offer an affordable traffic generator package for you.

One thing you need to make sure you have is back links. search engines love to see that a webpage has plenty of real legitimate back links from other websites. Having all your social media pages linked to your website is one way of doing this.

I would also highly suggest a landing page. I used to sell these, but im pretty sure you can get them for free or cheap(er than my company sold them for) and those are also key to SEO. Although you often end up optimizing the landing page, its linked to your website and you will see your website rank higher.

Also, make sure you have lots of good content, including VIDEO about your company. Upload a video to youtube, yahoo video, and google video and post to your website. This is key. Search engines rank sites higher if their content is better.

I’ve done a lot of research, and I know all about META tags and SEO. That’s taken care of. And I don’t have all kinds of money to be tossing away on AdWords. Also, I’ve checked out traffic exchanges and while yes, they do work, you need to either a) have money to buy traffic or b) spend hours cycling through random sites to credits. I don’t mind surfing… I just don’t have the time to sit around.. I do have a full-time job outside of blogging.

Anyhow, if anybody could help that would be awesome! Thanks!
